Special needs child care at Bits of Stardust is centered on flexibility, respect, and collaboration. Rather than applying a one-size-fits-all approach, our team works closely with families to understand each child’s needs, routines, and strengths. We make thoughtful accommodations to classroom activities, transitions, and expectations to help children feel comfortable, confident, and included in daily learning experiences.
Individualized Learning and Care Plans
Each child’s care plan is developed in partnership with parents to support daily routines, communication styles, sensory needs, and comfort levels. These plans help guide classroom support while allowing room for growth and adjustment over time.
Adaptive Classrooms and Flexible Routines
Our classrooms are designed to support children who may need additional structure or flexibility. Teachers adapt activities, schedules, and transitions to meet children where they are while maintaining a consistent, nurturing environment.
Ongoing Parent Communication
Clear and consistent communication with families is a priority. We maintain open dialogue with parents to ensure children receive consistent support at home and at our center, creating a strong partnership built on trust
Experience Supporting Medical and Developmental Needs
Bits of Stardust has experience supporting children with a range of medical and developmental needs in a child care setting. While we do not provide medical treatment, our staff is familiar with accommodating daily needs such as medication monitoring, dietary considerations, diabetes-friendly care, feeding tube awareness, and structured routines for children on the autism spectrum. Our goal is to support each child safely and responsibly within a licensed child care environment.
Special Needs Child Care From Infancy Through School-Age
Infants (0–1)
Infants receive individualized attention focused on comfort, bonding, and responsive caregiving. Routines are adapted to support feeding, sleep schedules, and sensory needs in a calm, nurturing environment.
Toddlers (1–2)
Toddlers benefit from structured routines, communication support, and flexible transitions. Teachers provide guidance that supports early independence while respecting each child’s pace of development.
Preschool & Pre-K (3–5)
Preschool and Pre-K children receive classroom support that encourages participation, early academics, and social interaction. Instruction and activities are adjusted to support different learning styles and developmental needs.
School-Age (6–12)
School-age children receive supportive before and after school care that includes homework assistance, structured activities, and social engagement in a flexible and understanding environment.
